Intuitive Writing Workshop

Service Description

Got the writing itch? Maybe you have a story idea you can’t stop thinking about. Maybe you haven’t written creatively in years. Maybe you’ve been working on something for months and hit a wall. Or maybe you’ve never really considered yourself a writer, but there’s something in you that wants to try. This workshop is for you. Join professional writer, Prof. Lindsay Gurka for a hands-on intuitive creative writing workshop designed to help you get words on the page, strengthen your storytelling, and connect with other people who love to write. Each workshop will explore a different genre, giving us a chance to look at the craft choices that make that kind of story work, then experiment with them in our own writing. This Month: Horror For October, we’re getting spooky. We’ll explore some of the building blocks of great horror writing, including atmosphere, setting, character, imagery, tension, and the choices writers make to create a feeling that sticks with the reader. We’ll talk about the stories and authors you love, look at what they’re doing on the page, and then give you time to put some of those ideas into practice. From there, we’ll move into a supportive roundtable workshop where Lindsay will guide you through giving and receiving useful feedback focused on story and craft, not spelling, punctuation, or whether you used a comma correctly. No professional writing experience is required. You do not need to be published. You do not need a finished manuscript. You don’t even need to confidently call yourself a writer yet. If you have the writing itch, you have the writing itch.
